Trainer Next Steps: T-CSCT

As a Trainer for the Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (T-CSCT) program, you are prepared to lead trainings for the environmental services staff at your organization. Please review the information on this page to ensure you are equipped with the appropriate materials to prepare your team for CSCT certification and to retain your T-CSCT status. The T-CSCT designation qualifies you to share your knowledge and expertise in strategies and techniques for top-notch cleaning and disinfection.

Proctoring Steps

People sitting at their computers

As a proctor, secure the classroom, lab, or space with computer access for each technician, and ensure coverage so technicians can take the certification exam without rushing.

The exam is timed for 2 hours, but please include time for logging in and instructions. Planning for 3 hours is recommended.

Each applicant will need the bar code from their Participant Guide during the application process (step 2) and to unlock access to the exam (step 3). They will also need the name of the trainer who is proctoring the exam.

Participant Guides or other materials are not allowed during the exam. The questions on the exam are randomized, meaning each candidate will not see the same questions at the same time.

The exams may only be proctored by active AHE-designated trainers. Translators are allowed in the exam room only if present with the AHE Certified Trainer.

AHE may revoke technicians’ certifications if any of the above requirements are not met.

Proctor Account Login Page

On or before the first day of the exam, each technician (exam candidate) must complete the CSCT Exam Application Form. They must have an AHE account to complete this form. The applicant’s email address on the account will be tied to their Credly (digital badge), which can be shared on social media.

If they don’t have an AHA account, they will be asked to create one.

The application and creating an AHA account can take anywhere from 10-30 minutes to complete.

The application asks them to verify their education, work experience, and demographics. They will also need the barcode from the Participant Guide and need to sign the Terms and Conditions. Please plan accordingly.

Once the application is completed, they will need to complete the transaction by confirming the order and submitting it.

They should receive an invoice confirming the order and instructions to access the “My Learning” platform.

Application Process includes:

  • Attesting to education and experience
  • Sharing demographics
  • Signing terms and conditions, including adding the barcode from the Participant Guide and electronic signature
  • Adding the application fee to the shopping cart
  • Checking out, confirming the order and submitting the order

After the applicants submit the application, technicians will receive an email with an invoice and access to “My Learning” center. No email? No problem!

Go to ahe.org. Click on “My Learning” on the top navigation bar.
