Why should you become a CHESP?

Legacy of Excellence: CHESPs from the First Class Still Leading Today

Among the very first Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professionals (CHESPs) ever recognized—featured in a historic newspaper clipping—two remarkable professionals continue to hold their certification to this day.

The CHESP opens doors for promotions. Once the organization learns that it is the premier validation of your professional experience and knowledge, they realize that you are at the top of your profession. Over the years, I have been given several professional opportunities for growth, and I know that having the CHESP has positioned me for success in each new role.

The CHESP is the premier credential you can achieve in our industry and once you earn it, share your accomplishment with everyone who will listen. I am proud to say that I have the very first certificate awarded. It's an accomplishment that has helped to define my professional career.

Receiving the CHESP was a huge acknowledgement that let people know that I knew what I was talking about when dealing with all of the aspects of management in the EVS world. I gained a lot of credibility. I value my CHESP very much in my health care career and now in higher education.

People appreciate the time and effort it takes to keep people safe while abiding by ever-changing EPA and CDC standards. I am grateful for this certification, as it has helped not only me but countless others, and it can only keep growing!

- Donna Butler, Senior Director of Custodial Services
