Certificate in Non-Acute Care Cleaning (CNACC) Program Information

 

The Certificate in Non-Acute Care Cleaning (CNACC) program provides 24 hours of classroom instruction and features 8 modules designed to support the core competencies needed for frontline cleaning technicians to establish and maintain a contamination-free non-acute care environment. Curriculum

This highly interactive workshop uses a variety of methods to set participants up for success after completion of the workshop. Some methods used in the program are: 

  • Video clips
  • Role-play scenarios
  • Summarize emerging pathogens, discuss the differences between outbreaks, clusters and pandemics
  • Real-world situations
  • Short presentations

*Non-acute: long-term care, ambulatory centers, building services contractors, and others. Registration is not considered complete if you select the inappropriate payment category. Additional payment may be required to complete the registration.

  • More than 15 business days prior to the start of the Program: Please send your cancellation request to ahe@aha.org. Your refund will be subject to a $300 cancellation fee.

    15 business days or fewer prior to the start of the Program: No refund or credit will be issued.

    No credits, substitutions, or transfers will be permitted under any circumstance.


Designated T-CHEST, T-CSCT, and T-CNACC trainers are not eligible to take the CHEST, CSCT, or CNACC exams. CHEST, CSCT, and CNACC Signature Program exams are not intended for managers, directors, or non-EVS front-line personnel. The EVS technicians trained by designated trainers should be the only participants eligible to take the certification exam.

EVS professionals or supporting partners (e.g. vendors, organization trainers) can become designated T-CHEST, T-CSCT, and T-CNACC trainers only by attending AHE Signature Train-the-Trainer (T3) Programs.

Designated T-CHEST, T-CSCT, and T-CNACC trainers can only train EVS staff within their facility. Supporting industry professionals (e.g. vendors, solution partners) can only train the sales personnel within their organization. They are not eligible to extend the training to any of their clients or customers.

In case of change in employment, the designated T-CHEST, T-CSCT, and T-CNACC trainers can continue their designation but can only train EVS staff within their current organization and only after contacting AHE at ahe@aha.org or submitting a contact update form with updated employment status.


Attendance and Credits

  • Technicians who miss two hours or more of the entire program will not be eligible to sit for the technician C CNACC Exam. Technicians who fulfill the attendance requirement will be eligible to sit for the CNACC Exam at a time designated by the T- CNACC.
  • Trainers who miss more than 2 hours of the Train-the-Trainer (TTT) program will not be eligible to complete the TTT program or become designated as a trainer until the missed portion is made up at a later AHE offering. This makeup session will require a nominal fee for processing and administration purposes.
  • Technicians that miss more than 2 hours of a session will need to make up the time with the trainer OR wait until the trainer's next session.

Trainer Agreement and Ethics Statement

In an effort to minimize risk, AHA and AHE are requiring all trainers to sign an agreement and ethics statement that will protect the integrity and viability of the CNACC program. Following are the primary terms of the agreement: Trainers must purchase all books through AHE and may not purchase books for resale purposes. Trainers cannot contract with organizations outside their health care facility to train others. Trainers cannot sell their training services. Trainers are required to update their CNACC certification record annually.

Preparing for Virtual Training

After you register for the workshop, you will receive interactive materials prior to training that will prepare you to participate in the training led by experts in the field of environmental services. Come ready to ask questions, and connect with other participants from your field in breakout rooms. 

Follow these tips for a successful virtual training experience:

  • Even though you are not physically in the same room as your instructor and colleagues, consider where you will physically take the virtual class. Will you be in the office? Working from home?  Pick a place where you can concentrate and are free from interruptions. 
     
  • Check the technical requirements for the virtual platform. For example, you can test in our AdobeConnect Pre-Classroom before your virtual class. In the rare event you experience issues, please contact CNACC@aha.org.
     
  • Block out your calendar, turn on your out of office notifications, and resist the urge to check emails or take phone calls until break time. Training is an investment in yourself, and it’s up to you to enforce it as a high priority.
     
  • Make sure you can hear and be heard in class by using a headset with a microphone to connect to the audio on your laptop or computer speakers. Your phone earbuds are great for phone calls, but you’ll appreciate being able to freely talk and participate in class by using a comfortable audio headset with a microphone.

    Tip: Remember to connect your headset before entering the virtual classroom so you can start listening and participating right away.
