CHEST Testing Process
PSI Testing Systems
AHE has updated it’s testing process. In the new testing process, designated trainers are considered the Proctor. The Proctor is responsible for administering the test. To administer tests, designated trainers must submit a one-time only request for the creation of a Proctor Account.
Technicians who completed the 72-hour CHEST training are referred to as the Candidates. All Candidates must complete the new Online CHEST Candidate Application Form.
-
At least 7 days prior to the start of the class, the workshop leader or Proctor needs to complete the Proctor Account Activation Form. This form is required to administer exams through the PSI testing site. AHE will send the proctor an email with log-in information, a test date calendar with available test dates and times, and the invitation codes needed to schedule exams. This form only needs to be filled out once.
-
The first day of the workshop, Candidates must complete the CHEST Candidate Application form. Once the candidate CHEST Candidate Application is complete, test takers are directed to schedule the exam on PSI Testing site.
-
AHE will email the Proctor the login and URL address to administer exam in PSI Testing System.
-
Candidates receive their official scores via email 10 to 15 minutes at the conclusion of the exam.
-
AHE issues certificates and badges through Credly. 30 days after passing the exam Candidates who successfully pass their exam receive an email from admin@credly.com inviting them to accept their badge and certificate.
Attendance and Credits
- Technicians who miss two hours or more of the entire program will not be eligible to sit for the technician CHEST Exam. Technicians who fulfill the attendance requirement will be eligible to sit for the CHEST Exam at a time designated by the T-CHEST.
- Trainers who miss more than 2 hours of the Train-the-Trainer (TTT) program will not be eligible to complete the TTT course or become designated as a trainer until the missed portion is made up at a later AHE offering. This makeup session will require a nominal fee for processing and administration purposes.
- Technicians that miss more than 2 hours of a session will need to make up the time with the trainer OR wait until the trainer's next session.
- CHESPs may wish to take the TTT only for the purpose of receiving the 24 hours of CPE toward renewal of CHESP (45 hours over 3 years) OR as a full professional refresh/review of the basic practices and protocols of health care environmental services.
Trainer Agreement and Ethics Statement
In an effort to minimize risk, AHA and AHE are requiring all trainers to sign an agreement and ethics statement that will protect the integrity and viability of the CHEST program. Following are the primary terms of the agreement: Trainers must purchase all books through AHE and may not purchase books for resale purposes. Trainers cannot contract with organizations outside their health care facility to train others. Trainers cannot sell their training services. Trainers are required to update their CHEST certification records annually.
