On May 4, 2010 we sent an announcement updating you on the impact the flooding in Nashville, TN might have on the ASHES Annual Conference. Since then we have been working diligently to provide a viable alternative. Since waiting was not an option, we were able to negotiate with Gaylord Hotels national staff for a change of venue. As a result, the 2010 Conference be held at the Gaylord National Harbor in Maryland (Washington, DC metropolitan area).
The immediate benefits to the change in venue include:
Gaylord Hotels generously agreeing to honor the terms of our Gaylord Nashville contract including the conference dates and hotel rates.
Since the DC metro area typically has a much higher federal government per diem, we were able to negotiate a more manageable rate for federal employees.
As you can imagine, this change also presents numerous logistical challenges, which we will be sorting through in the next couple of weeks. For now:
Attendees can continue with the program registration process.
Exhibitors can continue with the exhibit booth process – further information for exhibitors is available through Corcoran Expositions. Corcoran will be following up vial phone and email in the next few days.
Both attendees and exhibitors will be able to make hotel room reservations soon.
The new location is an amazing space with easy air and rail travel in and out as well as new and exciting tourist venues. We look forward to a spectacular 25th anniversary event in the Washington, DC area. In the meantime, please pay close attention to the ongoing communications from ASHES and please keep the people of Nashville and the staff at Gaylord Opryland in your thoughts and prayers. They have a tough job ahead of the.
