Certificate of Mastery in Infection Prevention (CMIP)

This blended program provides EVS leaders and professionals with the requisite knowledge to meet CMS requirements for a “trained” professional in infection prevention and control specific to the clinical environment of care.

A combination of online and in-person training, CMIP cultivates and validates the knowledge required to coordinate and align efforts across the care team to implement infection prevention strategies and improve outcomes.

Learning Outcomes

Microbiology, Epidemiology & Transmission Control

This program provides the scientific foundation needed to understand how infections occur and spread within health care facilities. Participants explore microbiology, apply epidemiologic principles to environmental risk assessment and strengthen the use of standard and transmission-based precautions to interrupt the chain of infection.

Risk Management, Preparedness & Applied Practice

CMIP equips EVS leaders to manage infection prevention challenges across the environment of care, including construction and renovation activities, biological events and emerging infectious threats. Through critical thinking exercises and a capstone project, participants demonstrate competence by developing and implementing practical solutions to real-world infection prevention risks.
